Riva Brown has been a professional artist for over 3 decades. Riva was educated in the
Wilmington
Public School system and graduated from high school in 1971 as a member of the National Honor Society. She enrolled at the
University of
Delaware in the Bachelor’s in Art program, receiving her degree in 1975 with a minor in Art History. Using her self-taught skill of Calligraphy, Riva’s current works emphasize interweaving watercolor and gouache with calligraphy. Riva was a founding member and past president of the Delaware Calligraphy Guild, and past Board Member of the Delaware Foundation for the Visual Arts (DFVA).
Riva has shown in a variety of shows both locally and in the surrounding area including Evening of Art,
Immaculata
College, the Rittenhouse Fine Arts Festival, Ronal McDonald House, United Cerebral Palsy’s Best of Delaware, and the DFVA sponsored shows such as Arts and Antiques.
Riva’s paintings have been displayed in the lobby of the Hotel DuPont, the office of the Governor, the
Carvel
State
Building, the City/County Building, and the
Delaware
Center for Contemporary Art.
