Parthemore, Elizabeth
A native of
Wilmington, Delaware, Elizabeth has enjoyed drawing and painting since
childhood. She graduated from the
University of Delaware with a degree in biology. While there, she also studied drawing and design. Primarily self-taught, Elizabeth has
incorporated her love of gardening into her artwork. Her paintings use traditional watercolor with a wax resist
technique. This method, using
washes and lines of wax on Japanese papers, imparts a contemporary quality to
her pieces.
Elizabeth is a
member of the Studio Group and also serves on the board of the Delaware
Foundation for the Visual Arts (DFVA) where she is chairperson of the
Excellence in Drawing and Scholarship programs for high school students. She has exhibited at the Rehoboth Art
league, the Studio Group, and in shows sponsored by the DFVA. These include the Greenville Outdoor
Show, held each June, the November Small Works of Art show, and in the members’
gallery of the Art & Antiques show held in March at the Hagley Museum Soda
House.
